Just a century ago, observational evidence established the existence of other galaxies besides our own. Soon afterwards, it was discovered that the Universe is expanding, driving a profound change in our understanding of the cosmos. In 1998, the prevailing cosmological paradigm was again upended by the discovery that the Universe's expansion is accelerati...

Inspiring and informative. Inspiring: We speak of task-specific A.I. and General A.I., but the next step (leap?) after General A.I. is Fully-Independent A.I. Entities (self-protective individuals). and what is the CRITICAL component of that? a.) More advanced technology? No. That by itself leads to nightmare scenarios. b.) Better software algorithms? No. The current paths are not the correct paths to fully-independent A.I. entities, let alone General A.I. c.) A philosophy that they (and humans) can exist by that has solved the Alignment Problem? Yes, and it has to do with Broader Survival. As it is, LLM's can be a great tool... if... the meddlers, I mean programmers, stop trying to make it politically correct (which is not the answer to humanity's problems - see above), which only limits and warps its output.

GAAAAAAAAAH. I never trust anything from British thinkers. They are loopy sources of twaddle to say the least... but I will give this video an objective view, since it looks technical (which cannot be BS'd) (unless what is presented is technically wrong), and thus a British thinker another chance, though I always fear that I will be wasting my time with them once again... here I will jump to the listed section on whether LLM's are always right or fair to see if it corroborates with my experiences with LLM's (that they do not think, they only copy, synthesize, and paste what humans have produced and posted (including speculative garbage), and they commit many potential fallacies that do turn out to be fallacious (Appeals to Authority, Appeals to Popularity, Appeals to Single Sources, Ad Hominem Attacts), and, in Creative Mode, generating pure BS)... Yes, I forgot about the pre-programmed WOKE bias 39:46 (providing a joke about men is OK, but not about women) and the Big Fake dilemma, and I've run into a lot of crazy runaway censorship while prompting LLM's. I will watch the rest of the video, since I will probably learn things from this Brit (I will let down my guard and set my generalizing aside and make an exception) (which may become a rule if Brits suddenly produce less twaddle, who knows)...

When I was reading a story of Avicenna , he was living in time where two Muslim groups formed . First group after reading Quran understood in a way that they need to study and solve the puzzles . The other group of people after reading Quran understood that all what they have to do is to Obey in the way it suits the region of that place . Purely in human nature, where one Ego is so high to dictate what people should do and what not. Two groups of society understood the same book in different ways .

Actually, redshift as an analog of sound, is nonsense. Thus, it is neither a measure of distance or of speed/acceleration. This is probably the most significant error of modern astronomy and cosmology... and the JWST is proving it. But we should have known without that evidence, simply as a matter of logic. Hannes Alfvén made the circumstances quite clear in his study of quasars. The "color" is an effect of charge, not distance or acceleration. We don't really know how far away anything is, and we certainly can't know the extent or age of "the universe". These are all modern conceits.

Disappointing that gravity is described as a force again, it isnt and this talk of gravitons and force is not productive. Energy of different densities travelling along geodesics to realize an intial state is all it is. In sufficient quantities of energy the curvature of spacetime overcomes all forces so this nonsense about gravitational weakness is moot. Ultimately, given the correct conditions, all spacetime and the energy in it would unite to what the universe was before inflation. That is gravity.

A very good talk all in all, except the graphs used at around 36:50 the first uses a scale from the floor value to the maximum but the second starts at a value very near to the lowest of the two being compared and not the floor value (0 in this case). This makes the discrepancy look bigger than it is and is not helpful. Especially so as the comparison is between male and female graduate starting wages, ironic given then section is on bias.

Something I've sadly realised in the last year is basically I am never truly happy, and I don't think I've never been in my life. Ok maybe when I was a kid. I get momentarily 'fake happy' when I'm planning something maybe. I sort of borrow a splash of happiness from the future, but I never really get it back. I am always very aware of the fact I SHOULD be happy. I sit there by the pool in the sunshine on holiday, looking at the blue sky and knowing that absolutely everything around me should mean that I am totally peaceful and happy right now. But it's all just grey and beige.

Listening to this is like listening to a biblical story, fictitious. They (scientists) were so convinced of atomic theory in the early 20th century and its composition that they laughed at the greeks. Here we are thinking the same thing 100 years about Bohr, Rutherford, Dalton etc... and in another 100 years (if we make it as a species) they'll be laughing at quarks, spins, and the boson If they truly know about the building blocks of the universe, they'd be able to build at least a scaled version of one. Afterall, two bicycle mechanics thought it was possible to fly, and then they did.
